How to optimize your hard disk
Tel : 020 8891 3010

As the files on your hard disk change, they become fragmented. A fragmented file occupies more than one place on the drive. This makes reading and writing fragmented files take much longer, so your files and programs take more time to load. To solve the problem you can use the Windows defragmenter. It puts fragmented files back together into one whole piece.

We recommend that you defragment your drive every month or so.

Step 1
To run Windows defragmenter, Click on the Start button then choose 'All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter'.

Step 2

Click on the drive you want to defragment (C: is usually the drive that stores the programs). Then click 'Analyze' to see whether the drive needs to be defragmented.

After a minute or two, a report will tell you whether the drive needs to be defragmented.

Step 3

To Defragment the drive click 'Defragment'. It takes from 1 to 3 hours. You can still use the computer while its running. You can pause it or stop it at any time.
